The University of Pavia (UNIPV) is one of the world’s oldest academic institutions: it was founded in 1361 and until the 20th century it was the only university in the Milan area and the region of Lombardy. Today 24,000 students, from both Italy and overseas, study at our University.
UNIPV covers all subject areas and is composed of 18 Departments offering study programmes at all levels, from Bachelor’s degrees to Doctorate programmes. Close attention is paid to each student by our academic staff (900 professors and researchers.
UNIPV is one of the most pioneering Italian universities when it comes to internationalising its academic systems. The fact that the university was one of the first to offer places to Erasmus students, together with Siena and Bologna, serves as firm proof of this. Furthermore, the university collaborates with the Coimbra Group (a collection of the oldest universities in Europe) in numerous projects aimed at “Europeanising” the university system. Some of them have now been approved by the European Commission as good practice for universities in Europe.
UNIPV is in a way unique not only because of its prestigious historical origins and top quality achievements, but also due to its leading and promoting role in the so-called “Pavia System”, characterized by 20 colleges and residences where thousands of students can live, study and play sports.
UNIPV – through IDDC Office - has developed in the last six years experiences in the field of
- International mobility, flanking the regular Erasmus mobility programs with virtual mobility opportunities;
